Summary: Savo is designed to help you save, summarize, and categorize your saved posts and articles. Your saved content is stored locally on your device. When you request AI summarization or auto-categorization, the text/content is processed securely via our AI partners (DeepSeek API and GLM API) strictly to generate summaries and topic tags. We do not sell your personal data or use your content to train public AI models.

This Privacy Policy explains how Savo ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, processes, and safeguards information when you use the Savo mobile application on iOS and iPadOS (the "Application" or "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Content You Save

Savo enables you to save, bookmark, and organize posts, articles, web links, images, and notes.

Local Storage: By default, your saved posts, bookmarks, personal tags, reading status, and notes are stored locally on your device.
Web Link Parsing: When you save a URL, Savo may parse the webpage to extract metadata such as the article title, author, cover image, and main body text to render it cleanly for reading and summarization.

AI Processing Data

When you choose to utilize Savo's AI features (such as generating post summaries, extracting key takeaways, or automatically organizing posts into categories), the relevant excerpt or article text is sent to our integrated AI providers.

Device & Diagnostics Data

To ensure app stability and diagnose technical issues, we may collect anonymous technical telemetry, such as:

Device model, operating system version (e.g., iOS 17/18), and app build version.
Anonymous crash logs and error reports to help us resolve crashes and improve reliability.

Subscriptions & Purchases

All premium upgrades or subscription transactions are processed directly and securely through the Apple App Store (In-App Purchases). We do not collect, process, or store your credit card, billing address, or payment credentials.

2. AI Summarization & Classification

Savo integrates state-of-the-art Large Language Model (LLM) APIs to deliver fast and accurate content processing:

DeepSeek API (DeepSeek AI): Used for intelligent content summarization, key points extraction, and semantic understanding.
GLM API (Zhipu AI): Used for automated multilingual categorization, topic classification, and tag generation.

🔒 AI Privacy & Data Handling Principles:

On-Demand Processing: Content is sent to the AI APIs only when you initiate an action requiring AI analysis (e.g., auto-categorize or generate summary).
No Model Training: API agreements with our AI providers state that API customer data is not used to train, retrain, or improve their public foundational models.
Ephemeral Processing: Your submitted content is processed in real time to generate the response and is not permanently retained by the AI model providers for advertising or profiling.
User Recommendation: Please refrain from submitting highly sensitive personal information, such as passwords, banking credentials, or confidential government identification numbers, into note fields sent for AI summarization.

3. Permissions Requested

Savo requests only the essential iOS system permissions required to provide its features:

Network Access (Internet): Required to fetch webpage content for saved links, communicate with AI APIs (DeepSeek and GLM), and verify App Store subscriptions.
Clipboard / Pasteboard: Used only when you tap to paste or save a copied link or text directly into the app. Savo never scans your clipboard in the background without user interaction.
Notifications (Optional): Used to deliver reading reminders, scheduled digests, or notification alerts if enabled in settings.

4. How We Use Information

We use collected or processed information strictly to:

Provide core app features: saving, organizing, viewing, and searching your saved posts.
Generate AI-powered summaries, key highlights, and smart category tags.
Manage subscription entitlements and restore purchases via Apple App Store.
Troubleshoot technical issues, detect bugs, and enhance overall performance.
Respond to customer support inquiries sent to our support desk.

5. Third-Party Services & Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We only share data with the following essential service providers under strict data protection terms:

Apple Inc. (App Store): For app delivery, StoreKit subscription processing, and basic App Store telemetry.
DeepSeek AI: For AI text summarization and insight extraction via API.
Zhipu AI (GLM): For AI content categorization and taxonomy classification via API.

6. Data Storage & Retention

Your saved posts, folders, tags, and summaries remain on your device. We do not maintain centralized user databases containing your saved articles. If you delete an item or uninstall the Savo app from your device, all locally stored items are immediately removed.

7. Your Privacy Rights & Data Control

Depending on your region (including EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and California CCPA/CPRA regulations), you have rights regarding your personal information:

Access & Export: You have full control over your locally stored content and can view or export your saved posts at any time.
Deletion: You can delete any saved post, summary, or custom category within the app instantly, or remove all data by deleting the application.
Opt-Out of AI: Using AI summarization and categorization is optional. You can manage and organize posts manually without invoking AI services.

8. Children's Privacy

Savo is not directed towards children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take immediate steps to address the issue.

9. Security

We take appropriate security measures to safeguard your information. All communications between Savo and external APIs (including Apple servers and AI API endpoints) are encrypted using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (HTTPS/TLS).

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features, operational practices, or legal requirements. Any changes will become effective when posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
